Revisiting Ecocriticism: Traditional Postcolonial and Spiritual Perspectives

About the Book

Revisiting Ecocriticism: Traditional, Postcolonial and Spiritual Perspectives studies the representation of environmental issues in literature and culture, with an exemplary foreword by Prof. Scott Slovic. It provides a comprehensive introduction to the history of environmental literary studies by foregrounding significant literary texts from different parts of the globe and gives a detailed critical appraisal of specific texts, thus making it easier for the readers to assimilate and understand the relevant topics.

Most anthologies of environmental literary studies limit themselves to the exploration of particular issues. This book, however, is a one-of-its-kind Indian edition with such an exhaustive study. Twenty- two highly enriched and scholarly articles by well-known academics and researchers from different educational institutions, written from diverse points of view, is an excellent compendium for students and researchers pursuing their studies on Dalit Ecology, Deep Ecology, Ecocriticism, Bastu Ritual and Ecological Symmetry, Geocentrism, Eco-Spirituality, Ecofeminism, Ecoterrorism, Posthumanism and Ecotherapy. The structure of the book has a broad scope of research on literature and the environment. It has been carefully designed to initiate students into the field of environmental literature and make them aware of the multi-dimensional aspects of ecological subjectivity.
