About the Book

The book attempts to present the principles of elementary dynamics and explain the meaning of the physical quantities involved, partly by definition and description, but mainly by worked out examples. A number of graphical examples have been worked out in the text, and a number are included in the exercises to be worked by the student. The examples provided in each chapter are arranged more or less to follow the text, and the miscellaneous examples, in each chapter, are intended for revision, and for this reason they are not arranged either in order of difficulty or in the order of the topics in the chapter dealing with the principles involved. Besides illustrative examples and miscellaneous illustrative examples, a number of exercises have been provided in each chapter for the practices by the students. The book has seven chapters comprehensively dealing with the fundamentals of dynamics and includes a wide discussion on broad topics such as kinematics and kinetics, rectilinear motion, uniplanar motion, work-power-energy and impulse, constrained motion, central forces, and resisting medium.

The book is intended for the students of mathematics, physics, and engineering in under-graduate and post-graduate classes, besides catering the needs of those students who want to have a sound understanding of the subject for various competitive and other examinations. It will also be a helpful tool for the teachers for teaching the subject in the classes.
