Great Sermons by Great Preachers

About the Book

GREAT SERMONS BY GREAT PREACHERS Compiled by Peter F. Gunther If you were asked to choose the eight greatest sermons preached from the time of John Wesley until now, which sermons would you choose? Who would be the preachers? In this volume are pulpit masterpieces that could hardly be excluded. Everyone ought to read the sermon Dwight L. Moody preached on the night of the Great Chicago Fire, "What Shall I Do With Jesus?"... Motionless, Jonathan Edwards used no gestures as he read Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. Yet his congregation clung to the pillars and braces of the church and cried out to God to spare them... George Whitefield, the great open air preacher of England, Wales and America could draw thousands any hour of the day and hold their attention with his powerful voice. With tremendous powers of description he called men to Repentance... The Responsibilities of the Christian Home is typical of Billy Graham's direct and simple message to the world to get right with God and then be made right with themselves... In his box David Livingstone carried Spurgeon's sermon, Accidents, Not Punishments, all over Africa.. .These and the other sermons in this book will bless and inspire every reader.
